The theme of the conference was "Embracing our Heritage and Bridging our Future", and the proud lead sponsor was Procter & Gamble. The 2006 NSHMBA Annual Conference is said to have been the largest of its type ever held in the city of Cincinnati, and the second largest ever held in its history overall. Over 300 sponsors, companies and universities, and 6,800 MBA professionals and students attended the conference which translates into another record-breaking year.
The event also featured the unveiling of a new research publication, The Business Journal of Hispanic Research. This was a landmark announcement, which will have a profound and quantifying impact on the way Americans view of Hispanics in higher education and the executive workforce. The Business Journal of Hispanic Research, scheduled for launch in June 2007, will be a peer reviewed research journal focused on topics that relate to Hispanic business professionals, managers, and executives as well as executives, diversity professionals and others who manage or work with Hispanic business professionals. The journal serves to act as a conduit between academic research and practice. Dr. Donna Maria Blancero will drive NSHMBA's new research division. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Relations from Cornell University and is the former chair of the board for NSHMBA.

"The National Society of Hispanic MBAs is embarking on a new era with the addition of this research dimension," said Lourdes Hassler, CEO of NSHMBA and publisher of The Business Journal of Hispanic Research. "This historical development will provide new structure and meaning to the advancements Hispanics are making in the arenas of higher education and corporate America."
