Welcome to the Orlando Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA)! It is our goal to drive value to our members and our sponsors by diligently planning a distinctive year of events for the community.  As a professional organization that fosters Hispanic leadership, our aim is to be the premier Hispanic MBA professional business network for economic and philanthropic advancement.  NSHMBA’s mission is to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development in order to improve society.  We encourage all who are interested to come attend one of our events or contact our VP of Membership for more information. On behalf of the chapter, I would like to thank you for your continued support

Who We Are-NSHMBA

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) was created in 1988. Widely known as the "Premier Hispanic Organization," NSHMBA serves 32 chapters and 8,000 members in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. NSHMBA works to prepare Hispanics for leadership positions throughout the U.S., so that they can provide the cultural awareness and sensitivity vital in the management of the nation's diverse workforce.

Available Board Positions

VP of IT

The Vice President of Information Technology is responsible for the overall functionality, and performance of the Orlando Chapter website.  The VP of IT is expected to maintain up-to date information and consistency.

Responsibilities:

Develops and provides content for the organization's web site. Designs graphics to enhance the look of the site. Working with the Board of Directors to ensure timely updates and needed enhancements are made to our content management system.

Coordinate with the VP of Marketing for the integration of social media tools.

Volunteer to assist with the planning and success of activities.

Qualifications:

A demonstrated knowledge and experience in web page design and HTML, IS and/or internet experience preferred

Treasurer

Requirements:

A strong desire to gain finance, accounting or accounts receivable/payable experience. Strong Excel skills. Ability to provide consultation to executive board and effectively manage the financial health of the local chapter.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Board

 

Attend pre-scheduled board meetings.  Actively participate and contribute to board discussions, annual strategic plan, membership activities, etc.

Present monthly and quarterly financial reports to chapter board for review.

Maintain open lines of communication with chapter board on upcoming meetings, activities, and event expenses to ensure appropriate allocation of funds.

Liaison between local and national office in regards to financial transactions, reports, and annual financial planning process. 

Events

Actively participate in event committees to stay abreast of financial transactions and needs.  (in part this may be as needed – out of site out of mind)

Review and approve financial transactions (e.g. invoice payments, receipt of revenue) to be sent to National for processing.

Process/complete financial transaction forms as needed for local chapter and submit to President for approval.

Financial Reporting

Review National month end reports upon receipt.  Provide reclasses and/or accruals as needed.

Regularly update the local chapter financial tracking models to provide the most up-to-date report of the local chapter expenses and revenues.  (National reports are available one to 1.5 months after the end of the month – (track the data as you are aware of it so that the Chapter has the ability to report as needed and cross check against what National provides).

Manage/oversee the annual planning process for the local chapter budget.  Schedule meetings, obtain input for projected event revenue and expenses, obtain executive board approval of annual plan, and submit final annual plan to National.
