Bienvenidos and welcome to the home site of the NJ Chapter of NSHMBA.  Established in 2007, the NJ Chapter is one of the newest chapters of the National Society of Hispanic MBA's. Growing rapidly, the NJ chapter seeks to improve the future of the Hispanic community in the Garden State through education and professional development. We invite all who share in our mission to join us in making a difference.

Who We Are-NSHMBA

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) was created in 1988. Widely known as the "Premier Hispanic Organization," NSHMBA serves 32 chapters and 8,000 members in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. NSHMBA works to prepare Hispanics for leadership positions throughout the U.S., so that they can provide the cultural awareness and sensitivity vital in the management of the nation's diverse workforce.

Vision:

To be the premier Hispanic MBA professional business network for economic and philanthropic advancement.

Mission:

...fostering Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development in order to improve society.

NSHMBA NJ Year End Event 2009 A Success

The NJ Chapter would like to Thank all who joined us for our End of Year celebration at Nine Tapas Lounge in Hoboken, NJ this past Thursday, December 10th, 2009. Our 2009 board and incoming 2010 NSHMBA board, and our members, came together to celebrate and close out the year at a wonderful networking event that all enjoyed. We would  like to Thank all our members, volunteers, and all who joined us for making this event a success.  We would also like to Congratulate NSHMBA NJ member, Rodolfo Kiste for being this years raffle winner of the NSHMBA NJ End of Year Raffle, Rodolfo won two tickets to the Hispanics Inspiring Students Performance and Achievement Three Kings Dinner which will be held in January 2010. So, Congratulations to Rudy!

2nd Annual Fostering Hispanic Leadership Event in NJ a Success- Sept 2009

This past September 23rd, the NJ chapter held its 2nd Annual Fostering Hispanic Leadership Employee Resource Summit.  In attendance was Steve Ramos, NSHMBA Interim CEO who visited NJ and met with sponsors. 

Opening remarks were made by Fred Jenkins, Verizon’s Director of Diversity Management Group. The Keynote speech  was made by Steve Ramos – CEO of NSHMBA. Following Mr. Ramos was a multi-sponsor panel discussion facilitated by Moises Modesto – Verizon’s Manager of the Diversity Management Group. The panel consisted of;     Eli  Diaz – Director of Verizon’s Business Operations,   Ivonne Diaz-Claisse – President of the Hispanics Improving Student Performance and Achievements (HISPA), and Diana Real – Director of Claims for State Farm and representative for Statefarm's Hispanic Employee Group. The panel presented ideas on how to collaborate with leaders outside the  business unit, and how ERGs benefits employees as much as employers. Discussion pursued on gaining  exposure to decision makers, developing  strong peer relationships and learning  new skills on raising an individual’s profile in the organization. Lastly, how ERGs provide talented people who might otherwise go unnoticed an opportunity to shine.

The event included representatives from other Hispanic ERG's in assistance such as Princeton University, PSE&G, Verizon, Statefarm,Johnson &Johnson, Medco and more.

Every year, the National Society of Hispanic MBA's gives out over $1.4+Million in Scholarships to Hispanic students around the country who are trying to get their MBA. The NJ Chapter would like to Congratulate all 2009 NSHMBA NJ Scholarship Recipients on achieving their dream of getting an MBA.

NSHMBA Nights in NJ- July 09

The NJ Chapter hosted its 2nd Annual NSHMBA Nights event in Hoboken, NJ on July 23rd, 2009.  This years event enabled members to network informally and make valuable connections as well as bring together members of other professional organizations.  We would like to Thank all who attended and our sponsor PSE&G for making the night a success!
