NSHMBA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM |
Program Guidelines
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs, which exists "to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional
development," has established a scholarship program to assist qualified Hispanics to pursue MBAs. Scholarships are offered each year for full- and part-time study at an accredited (AACSB)
institution of the student's choice.

AWARDS
|
The awards are a combination of scholarship funds and reimbursements for travel to a NSHMBA conference. There are three award levels for full-time study:
- $5,000 awards consisting of a $4,750 scholarship and $250 travel Reimbursement.
- $7,500 awards consisting of a $7,250 scholarship and $250 travel Reimbursement.
- $10,000 awards granted to the top 5 applicants who demonstrate financial need of $10,000 or more. These awards consist of a $9,750 scholarship and $250 travel Reimbursement.
There is one level for part-time study: $2,500 awards consisting of a $2,250 scholarship and $250 travel Reimbursement.
Awards are renewable for up to one year or until a Master’s Degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the recipient meeting the following requirements:
- Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) in current degree program.
- Participate in at least two NSHMBA chapter, regional, or national events by April 30, 2009.
Renewal applications will be sent to eligible recipients in December.

APPLICATION |
Each year the online application period will be from February 1st - April 30th. Interested students must submit an online application and then mail all supporting documentation to Scholarship Management Services by postmark deadline April 30, 2008:
- All undergraduate and graduate official transcripts (grade reports are not acceptable). Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and the term in which each course was taken.
- Two letters of recommendation from professors, advisors, or employers addressing current academic achievement, personal qualities, potential for future success and contributions to the community
Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship Management Services.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
|
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, work experience, financial need, personal statement of goals and aspirations, community service, letters of recommendation, and NSHMBA ambassadorship.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any officer or employee of NSHMBA play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified in late June via email. Recipients will also be notified via U.S. Postal Service. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

PAYMENTS OF SCHOLARSHIPS
|
Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf NSHMBA. Payments are made in two installments, the first on August 15th and the second on December
15th. A check will be mailed to the recipient's home address and made payable to the school for the student.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT EXPECTATIONS
|
Recipients are expected to be NSHMBA ambassadors. If requested, they are also required to supply Scholarship Management Services proof of information provided, including an official transcript of grades, Student Aid Report (SAR)
and/or a copy of their U.S. Income Tax Return. Recipients are also required to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other relevant information. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to:
- Agree to participate in limited public relations activities at the NSHMBA Annual Conference & Career Expo and throughout the year.
- Be available to travel to the NSHMBA Annual Conference & Career Expo in the fall.
- Each recipient will be given a $250 travel and accommodations
reimbursement to attend.
- All recipients are expected to attend the Scholarship Luncheon
and Scholarship Salute at the NSHMBA Annual Conference &
Career Expo.
- Each recipient will agree to volunteer during the NSHMBA Annual Conference & Career Expo for a
minimum of six hours in order to receive a Career Expo Registration.
- Agree to become an active member in their local chapter.
- Submit a thank-you letter and current résumé to the NSHMBA Board of Directors or sponsor, if applicable.

REVISIONS
|
NSHMBA reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America.
