Purpose: The NSHMBA Hispanic MBA Experience is an annual event that focuses on developing and promoting business leadership within the Hispanic community. The event aims to attract attendees who are interested in creating impactful connections with Hispanic leaders in the greater Austin community. Attendees come together to hear from experts in business about their personal journeys and learn from their strategies to success and how they leveraged available graduate and continuing education programs in central Texas. Nora de Hoyos Comstock is the national and international founder of Las Comadres Para Las Americas. She has served as the organization’s President and CEO since it’s founding.
In 1989 Dr. Comstock formed a business development consultancy known as Comstock Connections which she continues to the present day.
Nora Comstock received her Ph.D. (1982) from the University of Texas at Austin in Educational Administration with an emphasis on community college management and a B.A. in History (1974) with a specialty in Latin America.
She was selected one of twenty Latinas in the U.S. to be a 2000 fellow of the National Hispana Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. Dr. Comstock also was selected as one of fifteen Hispanic leaders to participate in the 22nd Seminario Fundacion Solidaridad, Mexico City and Michoacan in October, 2003.
She received an award in recognition of lifetime commitment and achievements in serving the Hispanic Community from the Hispanic Professional Women's Association at the 4th Annual National Convention and Exhibition of Mexicans Abroad in Los Angeles in July 2006. In 2007 Dr. Comstock was selected as one of the 25 top Hispanic Influencers in Austin, Texas for 2007.
Las Comadres Para Las Americas was named a 2011 Community Leadership Award honoree by the University of Texas at Austin for commitment and dedication to promoting social justice, increasing opportunities for inclusion, and/or improving access to education.

Tom Ramsey, Jr. CEO/Owner TRJ Snappy Snacks Mobile Catering, Inc (SSMC) is a native Texan, born in Dallas.
Tom left school at an early age to endeavor in the restaurant arena and then transitioned into the mobile catering business, where his "street smarts” and attention to detail led to a successful business. Along with his duties as President of SSMC, Mr. Ramsey is the CEO of the Nation Catering Association where he advocates and advises on new federal, state and local policies for mobile catering. Snappy Snacks started with one truck and a small warehouse in 1997, and has since grown to a fleet of over 70 trucks.
Snappy Snacks Mobile Catering was recently recognized by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as the 2011 Small Business of the Year. «« Back »»

Juan A. Martinez is a local entrepreneur with a diverse background in business, sale, marketing and technology. Juan has had a successful career since coming to Austin in 1993 from Caracas, Venezuela, to attend St. Edward’s University on a baseball scholarship. Juan graduated with a Business Management degree from St. Edward’s in 1999. Juan has always been a sports aficionado and has played at competitive levels. He grew up playing baseball or "beisbol”, the real Futbol, tennis, martial arts for more than 14 years and most recently triathlons after he fell in love with the sport after his first tri in 2005. In July, 2008, Juan founded a triathlon development group "EMERGE Multisport” that has expert coaches and a close-knit group of triathletes who are training for their first sprint tri up to their first IronMan.
Martinez’ latest business venture is Tri It Wear, LLC, a new line of casual apparel for triathletes as a fun alternative to their training or race gear. The company prides itself in crafting creative and diverse designs that you will not find anywhere else. He is the owner and Sr. Consultant at Hispanic Trending, the leading Latino marketing and advertising blog, a national and international consultant and public speaker, has been published in several industry publications and news media, among them CNN's AC360, Media Post, Marketing y Medios, LatPro.com, Latino Magazine, InteleCard Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, and FutureNow's GrokDotCom. Mercer , Owner, Genesis Consulting Genesis Consulting- Eli is owner of Genesis Consulting in Austin, Texas- providing strategy, innovation and operations management consulting as well as customized training and development (professional and organizational) in the areas of global start-up and expansion, technology transfer and commercialization, cross-cultural management and negotiations, as well as business intelligence and competitive intelligence. IC2 Institute- Eli is Program Manager of Technology Transfer and Commercialization for IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. In this role, he is responsible for the design and delivery of technology commercialization programs to consult, train and partner with leading R&D institutions, government entities, universities, corporations and capital sources on innovation ecosystems and technology transfer and commercialization (TT/TC). He is also responsible for the development and delivery of curriculum to impart skills, knowledge, and know-how as well as foster collaborative networks among TT/TC stakeholders in Texas and globally in order to enhance the ability of countries, regions, and institutions to compete on a global scale. The goal of these programs is ultimately to foster robust sustainable innovation and commercialization ecosystems around the world to enable the transfer and adoption of knowledge and technology, increase economic output and create sustainable prosperity, as well as enable the translation and dissemination of scientific discovery to improve quality of life. Professional Experience- Prior to joining IC2 Institute in 2007, Eli served Thunderbird School of Global Management as Global Enterprise Scholar and founding General Manager of the Thunderbird Center for Global Entrepreneurship (Now the Walker Center for Global Entrepreneurship) where he managed the launch of centers for excellence in Global Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity, Corporate Venturing, Social Entrepreneurship, Family Enterprise, as well as the Thunderbird Business Incubator. Eli is a seasoned entrepreneur and consultant with 17 years of experience building and growing companies large and small. Teaching- Eli teaches Foundations of Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business in the Business Foundations Program as well as University Extension. He also teaches Global Banking and Trade Finance, Import, Export and E-commerce in the International Business Institute at Austin Community College. Eli has been a trainer in executive education and worked with many organizations (universities, corporations, R&D centers, regions) around the world to develop and deliver customized training and professional development. He has also been a language tutor in English, Spanish, French and German. Education- Eli holds a Master of Business Administration in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management with specializations in Global Entrepreneurship and Global Business Intelligence, a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business, Spanish, French, and German from the University of Texas at Arlington.
