The Cleveland Chapter of NSHMBA and Convencion Hispana have partnered to establish the Convención Hispana 2010 Case Competition and challenge MBA students to prepare a strategy and community alignment analysis that answers this question for a cash prize of $1,500!
THE CHALLENGE
Hispanics are populating the Greater Cleveland area at a rate higher than any other ethnic group. The economic and political significance of Hispanics is also reaching new heights. However, many of the educational and health needs of Hispanics in our region remain underserved.
Leading companies throughout the United States see the engagement of and investment in Hispanic communities as a strategic imperative. Bridging the education and health access gap for Hispanics in our community will help them achieve full workforce and market potential. Students are required to describe the link between the current corporate strategy (or business imperatives) and the workforce and market potential of the Greater Cleveland Hispanic community.Students are also required to prepare a presentation containing a positional argument for increasing the focus on the local Hispanic community as a success factor for corporate responsibility/engagement programs.
MBA students form teams to participate in the competition. Each team is paired with a participating corporation and the analysis is performed based on the strategy of each individual corporation. All analyzes are reviewed by an independent group of case evaluators who assign a score based on a pre-defined criteria around creativity, soundness and practicality.
