BRILLANTE AWARD FOR CORPORATE EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes a corporate partner who has a proven track record of success in relation to the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce including the executive level. This corporation supports the NSHMBA mission and supports educational initiatives that impact the community they serve.

Particular attention is given to:
The organization’s sustainable efforts to recruit, hire, and retain a diverse workforce.
How well the organization has increased its representation of Hispanic professionals, executives, and board members.
The CEO’s commitment and involvement in both the organization’s diversity efforts and their involvement with NSHMBA events.
The organization’s diversity initiatives (including diversity council, employee resource groups, and internal and external communication strategies focused around these efforts).
The organization’s philanthropic activities in regards to educational advancement within the Hispanic community (including support made to the NSHMBA Scholarship program and/or other non-profit educational initiatives/organizations).

BRILLANTE AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes an educational institution that strives for a diverse student population and has a successful and proven track record in programs targeted at Hispanic outreach.

Particular attention is given to:
The university's support network and initiatives designed to bridge outcomes for Hispanic students while promoting a seamless path from recruitment to graduation at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
The institution’s diversity initiatives, i.e. Student Diversity Council.
The key outcomes of the institution’s diversity, minority recruitment and retention initiatives as reflected in their demographics among students, faculty, and staff.
The university’s collaborative partnerships with NSHMBA and/or other non-profit educational initiatives/organizations that foster recruitment, retention, development, and graduation of minority students nationwide.

BRILLANTE AWARD FOR NON-PROFIT EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes an organization that advocates on behalf of underserved communities and has successful programs dedicated to cultivating Hispanics and preparing them for advanced educational, career, and leadership opportunities. This non-profit is a true example of advocating collaborative partnerships and funding resources.

Particular attention is given to:
The organization’s role in advocating on behalf of underserved communities.
The organization’s activities that promote increased representation from underrepresented groups including sponsoring or promoting activities in the area of diversity i.e. conferences, workshops, and services.
The organization’s historical success and accomplishments aimed at cultivating Hispanics and preparing them for advanced educational opportunities.
The organization’s partnership and/or relationship (including length of time and any mutual grants or funding sources) with NSHMBA and/or other non-profit educational initiatives/organizations.

BRILLANTE AWARD FOR CORPORATE EXECUTIVE EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes an executive who advocates for a diverse workforce, including supporting professional development and career advancement of minority employees. This individual has a designated track record of success within their profession.

Particular attention is given to:
The executive’s unique talent for leading people through demonstrated unusual success in building and maintaining a workforce that is diverse, well-trained, highly motivated, and productive (including how the nominee leveraged the capabilities of employees and other people to build a shared vision, aligned support for that vision, and motivated and encouraged people to work collaboratively to produce significant results).
The executive’s highest level of creativity, initiative, flexibility, and innovation to produce results that are important to the Hispanic community (including how the nominee displayed unusual vision in leading organizations or projects that thrived over time and are consistently recognized as extraordinary).
The executive’s management of human, financial, material, and information resources in a manner that instilled the utmost public trust and advanced NSHMBA's mission (including how the nominee optimized use of financial resources through cost reductions or cost avoidance; applied merit principles to develop, select, and manage a productive and diverse workforce; and/or used information technology systems to make significant program improvements).
The executive’s stature in the professional field including being recognized nationally or internationally as a leader or authority in the field or discipline (comparing the nominee with others in the field, including the level and nature of influence the nominee has had on others in or beyond the field or discipline).
The executive’s commitment and outstanding accomplishments made to the Society’s mission through board or advisory involvement and partnership with NSHMBA and/or other non-profit educational initiatives/organizations.

BRILLANTE AWARD FOR MEMBER SERVICE EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes a NSHMBA member who demonstrates a sustained commitment to the organization of at least 5 years or more. This member demonstrates their commitment by being actively involved in the recruitment of new members, participating in and organizing professional development activities both on a regional and national level, and supporting NSHMBA’s programs and events.

Particular attention is given to:
The nominee’s long-term commitment to NSHMBA, as demonstrated by length of time as a member, leadership positions held, and documented efforts outside the job function and above and beyond the normal expectation of a member.
The nominee’s development, promotion, and significant participation in activities that advance NSHMBA’s strategic goals (growing conference revenue, developing strategic partnerships, increasing the number of Hispanic MBAs and increasing the number of NSHMBA members).
The nominee’s stature in his or her professional field including being recognized nationally or internationally as a leader or authority in the field or discipline (comparing the nominee with others in the field, including the level and nature of influence the nominee has had on others in or beyond the field or discipline).
Support given to NSHMBA’s National Scholarship program and/or other non-profit initiatives/organizations.

BRILLANTE AWARD FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL EXCELLENCE
  This category recognizes an entrepreneur who exemplifies Hispanic leadership through their drive and success. This entrepreneur also steps forward as an advocate for education and community collaborations that foster advancement in initiatives to geared to empower Hispanics and assist them to further their educational and professional pursuits. This entrepreneur is personally advocates and supports the NSHMBA mission and initiatives.

Particular attention is given to:
The entrepreneur’s achievements and success within their business and the community at large, including any local, regional, or national recognition.
The entrepreneur’s vision and passion around their product or service and how well this message is conveyed to the Hispanic community.
The entrepreneur’s leadership attributes and resource management skills that have advanced their business as well as NSHMBA’s mission and strategic goals.
The entrepreneur’s commitment to social responsibility and giving back to their community, particularly in the area of educational and philanthropic initiatives supporting, cultivating and empowering Hispanics.
