Make plans now to attend the NSHMBA Seattle Career Management Workshop that will get you ready to maximize your success at the National Conference. Come learn how to navigate the conference, network with corporate recruiters, know what to do before arriving in Minneapolis , and hear about some great techniques you can use to best market yourself.

This local workshop will feature professional career coach Matt Youngquist who will be facilitating résumé reviews and mock interviews to get you ready for this year’s conference. He will share with you his expert advice and helpful tips on how to best approach recruiters and perform well during job interviews. Learn how to increase your competitive edge at the national conference.

About the Panelists:

 

Matthew B. Youngquist

President & Founder, Career Horizons

Mr. Youngquist is a recognized expert in the field of career coaching, job hunting, and professional employment counseling.  After his decade-long tenure with Moore & Associates, a leading Northwest career consulting and corporate outplacement firm, he founded Career Horizons in 2004 to assist individuals in navigating successfully through today's challenging, largely uncharted employment waters.   In his current role, he consults with clients at all levels on how to strategically manage their careers, explore their occupational options,  and master the complex dynamics that are reshaping today’s world of work.  To date, he has assisted over 6,500 clients through the process of finding more meaningful work, in addition to the audience reached through his "Conscious Careering" column that appears monthly in the Puget Sound Business Journal.  He is proud to serve as an expert career resource for members of NSHMBA and to offer a special partnership discount for any members of the organization looking for resume, job hunting, or career coaching support!

  Richard Velazquez

Richard Velazquez is the President of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) Seattle Chapter and the Senior Product Planner for Xbox at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Velazquez was an Assistant Brand Manager for P&G in Puerto Rico focused on U.S. Hispanic Marketing and also served as President of the NSHMBA Puerto Rico Chapter. Velazquez received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business under a full-tuition fellowship from the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management (CGSM).

Prior to obtaining his MBA, Richard spent seven years as an Automotive Designer with Honda in Ohio and Porsche in Germany. Velazquez received a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City with a full-tuition scholarship, a trademark of the school.

In 2009, Richard was selected as a NSHMBA Rising Star and featured in Hispanic MBA magazine. He was also awarded the NSHMBA Brillante Award for Member Service Excellence, the most prestigious award granted by the organization. The Puget Sound Business Journal name Velazquez a 2009 PSBJ 40 under 40 Honoree, the "region's premier award program that spotlights the top business leaders under the age of 40 who excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership".
