Stuhmer and Maria Isabel León Carreño, MA The purpose of this investigation was the identification of factors needed to enhance rural Latino immigrants’ long-term residential stability. Perceptions of rural residence, employment, and community supports were collected from firstgeneration immigrant Latinas and their second-generation peers residing in five unique rural Nebraska communities. Muñiz, PhD This is an executive summary of a study reported by Grzywacz, J. G., Arcury, T. A., Marin, A., Carrillo, L., Burke, B., Coates,M. L. and Quandt, S. A. (2007) that showed the relation of national culture, type of industry, experiences of work family conflict, and reports of physical and mental health illnesses of nonprofessional workers. Results of this study indicated that immigrant Latinos reported infrequent work-family conflict in the poultry processing industry. However, women reported job pressures that negatively impacted their family life. A discussion is offered about how the results of this study are contrary to the stereotypes of Latinos’ work values.
